Monday Morning Prayer

I was thinking, Father,
yesterday in worship,
with my hands upraised
in prayer and thanks,
how like a container
I’ve been this week.
Empty, needing to be filled,
a hollowed out space
hollering for help.
I’ve been stuck,
stagnant,
stewing by myself
drowning in unmoving water.

And you showed me, Lord,
how like a conductor
you want us to be….
passing on the power
as it goes through us,
sharing our portions
with others, a
channel for life
giving water away to the weary.

Keep me flowing, not pooling
or puddling,Lord,
from You the eternal
Source,
the Chief Water Engineer
whose everlasting fountain
never runs dry.
